What a stunning venue Middleton Lodge is! Located in the village of Middleton Tyas near Richmond at the very top of North Yorkshire. Set in 250 of beautiful landscape grounds and parkland, the house is a private country mansion, built in 1780 and designed by the famous York architect John Carr. It is really a fab place for a wedding, and I was certainly in my element photographing here! Originally, Sian and Dan had hoped to have an outdoor ceremony, but with rain threatening heading over from Thirsk, it was moved indoors at the last minute. In the end it was beautiful sunshine all day long! When I meet with couples before their wedding on the pre-wedding shoot, I take down the names of ushers, bridesmaids, parents etc. I try my best to remember their names on the wedding day as I feel it adds to the personal service that I aim to give. I’ve gotten pretty good at learning the names, but putting the names to the faces is always a challenge. Imagine my surprise when they gave me 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmens names! With Sian and Dan both getting ready at the house, I was able to move between the two, capturing the moments before the ceremony. Sian had a stunning room at the top of the spiral staircase, thankfully it was large enough for all the girls to fit into without it being a squeeze! I’ve never seen so many smiling faces, both friends and family all had such a great day, and myself included!
