Danby Castle Wedding

Cat & Ash’s Wedding Day at Danby Castle / Danby Castle Wedding Photography

Cat and Ash’s wedding at Danby Castle on the blog today, and what a day it was! The North Yorkshire Moors is my favourite part of the county, so getting to photograph weddings there is an extra special treat, and weddings at Danby Castle always have their little quirks and are usually incredibly fun and this one was no exception! The heather on the moors was in full bloom and the countryside was just picture perfect, blue skies and fluffy clouds above. My day began with the girls getting ready in cottages near Castleton, who were promptly collected by Steve from All Cool Campers in the stunning Rose van. A short trip through the villages and we arrived at Danby where Ash was ready to await his beautiful bride Cat. After a laughter filled ceremony we took a ride in the camper van to Duck Bridge, donned our wellies and had a walk (or more like wade) in the river… as you do on a wedding day! I knew Cat would be wearing a short wedding dress beforehand and had planned this shot with them a few months beforehand, and I’m so pleased that I had a couple that were up for being a bit adventurous to get a shot that I had not seen done before! Thankfully none of us took a tumble and we all got out safe and sound. Another highlight from this wedding was Cat and Ash’s ‘Special Guest Appearance’ which was a complete surprise to all their guests. I’m sure everyone has heard of the Red Arrows? Well on this day we had the… Red Barrows! A fully orchestrated team of synchronized guys in red jump suits doing tricks with wheel barrows with the Top Gun theme blasting out in the background, definitely a first for any wedding day I’m sure! So here’s my last blog of 2013 (though there are still lots of weddings from this year yet to come!), and as ever it’s another stonker of a wedding day at Danby Castle! There’s just something about this venue that attracts fun loving people, it is never a dull day that’s for sure! Danby Castle is a very unique wedding venue, hidden on a hillside at the top of the North Yorkshire Moors with views of rolling fields and surrounded by beautiful countryside, definitely one of my favourite places to photograph at. Lisa and Alex’s day started with then both getting ready at Forest Lodge Farm in Castleton. With the boys in one cottage and the girls in another, it was easy for myself and my assistant Elissa to move between them both to capture both sides of the day. The morning preparations are one of my favourite times of the day to photograph and I love the shots that we got of Lisa and Alex, with Lisa being a make up artist herself I knew she was going to look amazing, and amazing she definitely looked! The stunning North Yorkshire Moors countryside looking over towards Danby I always love photographing a Jenny Packham wedding dress, so unique looking you can tell it’s one of her designs straight awayWith Lisa growing up in Scotland, you might notice a few Scottish influences throughout the wedding day, watch out for the ‘addressing of the haggis’ later on in the night!A very beautiful bouquet by Audrey Foster FlowersAlex and Lisa’s son Finley in his awesome suit jacket! One of my favourite shots of the day, I love the different dresses the girls wore and how they tied in so well with the flowersA short drive through the village of Castleton and Danby and on to the wedding venue

Danby Castle Wedding Photography / Lisa & Kev’s Wedding Photos / North Yorkshire Moors Wedding

Another absolutely fab, fun, fantastic wedding at Danby Castle on the blog! From start to finish I think I had a smile on my face at Lisa and Kev’s wedding, so many awesome people and such a loved up and fun couple to photograph. Danby Castle is one of my favourite venues (and I’m very pleased to be one of their recommended photographers), it always seems to attract couple’s that are looking for a venue that they can tailor to their personalities, and with Lisa and Kev’s rustic vintage ski theme it was clear that they had put so much hard work and thought into tying it all together. From the invitations, the table layouts, right down to the typography style and colours used, everything had been designed from the ground up. From a photographers point of view, this is my idea of heaven, so many great details to photograph and everything just worked so well. The whole wedding day took place in the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors, all day long we had blue skies and fluffy white clouds, a perfect day in September! Both Lisa and Kevin got ready in the morning at a converted barn in Castleton, the next village along from Danby, so was easy for me to pop between them both to tell the story from both sides. They hired a suitably coloured VW camper van to take both parties to the church in Glaisdale, then continued the party at Danby Castle, taking in the scenery of the moors along the way.¬†
